X-rays were discovered in 1895 by William Conrad
Roentgen, at the end of the last century...
A few months later, the Pall Mall Gazette (January 1896) published
this editorial:
"...The consequence of this technology appears to be that you can
see
other peoples' bones with the naked eye. On the revolting indecency
of this, there is no need to dwell.
"Perhaps, the best there would be for all civilized nations to
combine to burn all works on X-rays and to execute all these
practitioners who call themselves radiologists..."
Aren't we lucky, ALL of us, to be still alive? Doctors and patients...
